Here is your answer.,
Assume a light source normally visible light we speak here, hits a substances.
Now, the light will diverse from the incident light from the terms of its angle, the diversified and obtained light is called as a diffraction and the recording of the diffracted light is measured in defined terms. The recorded light is called diffractogram.
The principle works for having the particle that have been bombarded with the light source.
Now, the chromatogram is the result that shows the separation of compounds.
In simple terms us to understand, the diffraction is the angle of bending of the light and the chromatogram is the qualitative and qualitative measure of separation of compounds.
Chromatogram tells us how the compound splits in the given chromatographic conditions that happens within the stationary phase in the presence of Mobile Phase.
In-order to detect the compound that split in the stationary Phase, we need a detector to identify the compound , where the diffraction works on the separated compounds.
