The main differences between brand name drugs and generic drugs are in their manufacturing, pricing, and branding, but they are equivalent in safety, efficacy, dosage, and quality
Brand name drugs are developed by the pharmaceutical companies which invests in Research and development and these drugs are protected by patents which gives the manufacturer exclusive rights, these are expensive due to the cost in research and development, clinical trials and marketing, have proper shape and colour and sold in the name of brand
Generic drugs are the drugs which are manufactured after the brand name drugs patent is expired, these drugs are much cheaper due to no need of clinical trials or heavy marketing, sold under the chemical name and look different in terms of colour and shape but the active ingredient is same
