HPLC is a separation technique based on Polarity and Partition co-efficient of molecules.
It has adequate Analytical applications.
For example, HPLC is uses mainly for Identification and Quantification of Impurities and Active Ingredient (API) thereby it (API) could be calculated for its purity.
That says, It is used for purity Analysis.
Separation of Impurities can be done in ppm (Parts Per million) levels given by its high detector sensitivity. So, the impurities are Identified in minute level ensuring the highest Purity Level.
Almost all kinds of compounds can be Identified by this technique as it is having wide range of detectors (PDA, RI, ELSD, CAD, MS). Based on the nature of compound, the type of detector is selected and analysed for purity.
So, HPLC plays a major and daily role in Pharma, Food, Beverages and consumables Industries and is having its pivot role.
